Maeve Bowen – General Manager
Maeve has managed Macroom E since it opened in 2004 and has a background in business and enterprise development. Previous to taking the position in Macroom, Maeve worked as operations manager with a start-up scientific company, with the multi-national Sun Microsystems and with the Enterprise Trust. Maeve has a degree in English and Sociology, a Higher Diploma in Rural Development and an MSc from University College Cork.
Catherine has worked with Macroom E since 2007 and manages the centre and portfolio of client companies. She also manages a number of projects to support start-up business owners and promote environmental awareness. She graduated with an honours degree in Applied Languages & Computing from the University of Limerick and has also studied Media Communications at Cork Institute of Technology. She is a qualified Strengths Practitioner and Trainer. She previously worked with the Heritage Unit assisting the Archaeological Officer, working on the development of the Listed Building Framework and designing in-house promotional material.
Magali has looked after the accounts & administration of the centre since 2007. She moved to Ireland from France in 1996 after graduating with a Baccalauréat in French literature and languages and a Brevet de Technicien Supérieur in Travel/Tourism administration and marketing. She also completed the E.C.D.L. (European Computer Driving Licence) in 2006. Her background is in retail management with extensive experience in accounts procedure, general administration, HR & customer service.
Michelle joined Macroom E in October 2010 as Project Manager for the SMILE Resource Exchange initiative. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Government & Public Policy and a Higher Diploma in Education, both from University College Cork. She also holds a certificate in Business Management. Prior to this, Michelle worked as a Programme Manager for a not for profit, educational organisation called Common Purpose which specialises in cross sectoral leadership development. A strong interest in current affairs and the public sector, Michelle previously spent time as a Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of Dail Eireann. Building on her strong interest in current affairs and combined with a passion for education, prior to this she practised as a secondary teacher mainly teaching CSPE (Civic Social Political Education) as well as Business, Maths and History. During this time Michelle was also involved in a large research project investigating the viability of growing miscanthus as an energy crop in Ireland, stemming from her interest in environmental issues and in particular energy. Michelle has a passion for community development and community empowerment and holds a number of positions in community organisations.
Katherine has been working as Project Co-ordinator of SMILE Resource Exchange since September 2011. She graduated with an Honours Degree in Business Studies Recreation and Leisure in 2006 and went on a working/holiday Visa to Australia in 2007 for 15 months. On her return Katherine went back to college studying Co-operative Organisations, Food Marketing and Rural Development in UCC in which she received a Post Graduate Diploma. She has previously worked in Permanent TSB as a cashier and in the Mercy Hospital in Cork as a care assistant. Katherine is very involved in sport in particular, Camogie. She plays with Cloughduv and is an active board member of the club and she also trains the underage teams along with the camogie teams in St Mary’s Secondary School Macroom.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Business Studies Marketing Degree from Cork Institute of Technology. Julie comes to Macroom E from a hospitality background, having worked in both Events and Sales & Marketing roles to a five star level. Her role as Marketing Manager for a large scale events centre involved devising sales strategies, as well as creating and implementing advertising campaigns. Her most recent role as Conference & Events Co-ordinator has allowed her to work on a wide variety of projects, from large scale international conferences to small private functions
Jaki joined Macroom E in October 2016. Having previously worked in the Youth sector she holds a Diploma in Youth Studies and Counselling from Mungret College Limerick and a Diploma in Youth & Community Work from UCC. She also holds a FETAC level 5 Certificate in Business & Secretarial studies. Jaki has worked as a medical secretary and for the local Environmental Group where she was responsible for the groups accounting and fundraising. Jaki has had many years experience working in hospitality and brings great interpersonal and organisational skills to her role, she is responsible for the day to day running of Macroom E.
Eimear Cusack – Project Co-ordinator
Eimear joined the Macroom-e Team in 2015. She holds a BA in Philosophy & Psychology, a H.Dip in Psychology and an MSc in Consumer Psychology with Business. Eimear has worked in a number of communications roles within the not for profit and mental health sectors as well as, most recently, in the food industry. Eimear is particularly interested in behaviour change, marketing and project management. For her Masters’ thesis, she tested a communication intervention with the objective of reducing high-risk behaviours on construction sites. Eimear is working across a number of projects at Macroom-e including water conservation, digital storytelling and tourism.
